From February 21, 2011 Radio FOCUS began daily broadcasting of Voice of America (VOA) news in English. The broadcast is intended for Bulgarian citizens, and for all foreign citizens and institutions residing or working on the territory of Bulgaria alike. The news programme is broadcast live from Washington at 10:30 am, 02:30 pm, 06:30 pm and 10:30 pm local Bulgarian time.
On June 15, 2011, Radio FOCUS was licensed to broadcast in Taraclia city in the Republic of Moldova. The broadcast right became a reality thanks to the goodwill and cooperation of Moldovan authorities and the efforts of the Bulgarian Embassy in Chisinau. There are more than 100,000 ethnic Bulgarians in Moldova. The areas most densely populated areas by Bulgarians are in the southern part of the Moldova, in the districts of Taraclia, Comrat, Corten, Tvardi?a, as well as in the adjoining Ukrainian territory of Bolhrad.
The Sofia-based FOCUS New Agency has already established 12 regional centres nation-wide. They are in the cities of Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Sliven, Smolyan and Shumen. Radio FOCUS is broadcasting 24 hours a day own news bulletins and music programmes with news feeds from national and international newscasts every hour and regional news broadcasts every half hour. The radio station has its own information, journalistic, historical, entertainment, cultural, educational, and sport broadcasts.
