"We discussed the importance of the sector for our economies and the programme for joint actions in the field of tourism for the period 2020-2022, signed between the two ministries on 31 January 2020 in Sofia. The working group on promoting the presence of Bulgaria and Greece on distant and promising markets, as well as on the creation of joint products, will play an essential role in its implementation. This is of utmost importance for both governments," Minister Angelkova said.
She further said the focus on specialised types of tourism and especially cultural-historical tourism was reaffirmed. "There is traditionally good cooperation and positive exchange of tourists between our countries, but the potential is greater. Last year, over 1.1 million Greek nationals made tourism trips to Bulgaria, which is a 4.7% increase compared to the record 2018 – second in the ranking for inbound tourism. Also in 2019, over 1.4 million were Bulgarian tourism visits to Greece and this is a 4.2% increase compared to 2018 – also the second position in the outbound tourism ranking,” said Minister Angelkova.
