Parliament adopts on first reading amendments to Environmental Protection Act related to waste incineration26 February 2020 | 14:11 | FOCUS News Agency
The bill was tabled by the GERB Group and was supported by 120 votes “in favour” and zero “against”, one MP abstained.
The proposed changes ensure that all waste incineration plants, regardless of their capacity, will undergo mandatory environmental impact assessment (EIA). In the current legislation, only investment proposals with quantities exceeding 100 tonnes per day are subject to mandatory EIA.
The bill also stipulates that experimental installations are ALSO subject to mandatory EIA.
