Stamen Yanev, BIA: Foreign investors seriously interested in Bulgaria18 October 2019 | 15:45 | FOCUS News Agency
He said over the past few years the agency has certified a number of large investment projects. “To date: for 2019, we are talking about investment projects worth a total of BGN 500 million, which open the potential for new 3,000 jobs. Last year, we had approximately BGN 800 million in total in investment projects and approximately 6,000 jobs," he said.
Bulgaria's GDP growth, although happening at a slower pace, puts the country in a better place on Europe's economic map. "Gross domestic product is growing every year, albeit at a slow pace. But compared to other countries in the European Union, such as Italy, which reported growth of 0.1 GDP, we had 3.7%. Last year it was 3.6, this year I hope we will report 4% GDP growth at the end of the year, which is a great achievement in the European Union and will place us in top 5 of EU countries with economic growth," he said.
In his words, as of now, new investment projects worth BGN 1.7 billion have applied for certification at BIA. "I hope this will be achieved in the next few months. […] Last year we had a significant increase compared to previous years,” he said, adding that he hoped this year’s result will reach and outpace those from last year.
