Minister Neno Dimov: Bulgaria is the only country in the EU that has imposed restriction on import of waste for incineration17 September 2019 | 09:17 | FOCUS News Agency
Minister Dimov said this stimulates the production of Bulgarian fuels from waste and burning of Bulgarian waste. "The transportation of waste is regulated in two ways. There is green-listed waste that can move freely within Europe. It is collected on the basis of a regulation and is part of the free movement. There is another type of waste, notified, and the receiving state must give its consent."
“Europe tries to make the process of waste recovery separate so that different flows can be properly treated in different countries. The aim of European policy in general is to reduce landfill to no more than 10% within 10-15 years. This means that at a recycling maximum of 65%, there is a difference of 25 minimum that must be burned,"Dimov explained.
"Thermal power plants have to go through a certain procedure. The Brickel TPP has presented an investment intention that must go through an impact assessment and then through a comprehensive permit procedure," Minister Dimov explained.
