Bulgarian Justice Minister Danail Kirilov will resign if the monitoring on Bulgaria under the so-called “Cooperation and Verification mechanism” is not lifted by the end of the current mandate of the European Commission. This was stated by Minister Kirilov at today's session of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Bulgarian National Television
reported. The justice minister said he had taken the lifting of the CVM as personal responsibility, and that he had had a conversation with EU Commissioner Vera Jourova on the subject. "If the monitoring is not lifted, I will hand in my resignation as Minister of Justice. Vera Jourova believes that we have made very serious progress and that we have a chance, but the comment concerned the possibility for this Commission to decide on the issue," he said.
