"Pre-trial proceedings for document fraud have been instituted following a report from the National Police Department after an inspection conducted by them. Five acting dentists along with two accomplices had been submitting fake documents to the NHIF for provided dental services to minors in the period 2015-2018”, said Prosecutor Rusinova. "It has been established that health insurance books belonged to minors with address registration outside Sofia. They had not attended the dentists' offices, neither had their parents," she added. "The outpatient records were analysed, more than 1,200. It was found that they were not signed by the parents of the minors, the content was not filled by the dentists, it was done by one of their accomplices," Prosecutor Rusinova explained. She commented that one of the accomplices worked in one of the dentist’s offices, and the second one maintained the software program.
"The amounts received by these dentists from the NHIF were over 120 thousand leva. The circle of the suspects is not exhausted at this point. A lot of procedural actions and expert evaluations were carried out, as a result of which we charged these persons,” the prosecutor noted.
