The government is expected to allocate BGN 3 million for improvement of child healthcare at its regular meeting. The decision was made following a meeting of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the minister of health, paediatricians, neonatologists and directors of obstetrics and gynaecology facilities. Of these funds, the state and municipal hospitals will be allocated BGN 500,000 for the purchase of 15 cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices and BGN 750,000 for 50 incubators. In addition, BGN 1.7 million will be used for funding of the paediatric hospital under the Maternal and Child Health Programme under Ordinance No. 3 on medical services beyond the scope of compulsory health insurance. The resources will be used to improve child treatment and increase salaries.
