“We haven’t done a historical analysis, it could well be the biggest for the past 20-30 years," he said. “We found over EUR 11 million and over USD 1.8 million in a different degree of completeness," said Prosecutor Geshev. Fake bills were found at more than 30 addresses that the law enforcers searched. The printing shop was in a hotel in Sunny Beach resort.
On 20 October, the police conducted an operation against an organised crime group suspected of distributing counterfeit money. Charges have been brought against four persons who were caught red-handed making fake money, the supervising prosecutor Evgenia Deyanova said. She went on to say that on Tuesday the prosecutors will request that all four suspects be remanded in custody. Fake bills of such indicative have not been discovered yet, she explained. "The banknotes have all features of real money, watermark and security threads. They are yet to be handed over for analysis, including to Interpol," the prosecutor-in-charge said.
