Gazeta Express: Mogherini hosted a meeting with Presidents of Kosovo and of Serbia24 June 2018 | 22:24 | FOCUS News Agency
The High Representative and the Presidents had an intensive and productive discussion on the framework of an agreement on comprehensive normalisation of relations between the two sides. They agreed to intensify the work in the coming weeks, it is stated in the press release issued by Mogherini's Office after the meeting.
Following the meeting Kosovo President Thaci said that meeting with Serbian President Vucic was difficult considering that they are discussing century-old problems mounted between Serbs and Albanians. “I know that with a potential agreement both sides can win a lot, but I am afraid that if no agreement is reached we will lose, because we will hurt the European future, will delay the European future and will remain isolated,” Thaci said.
“We cannot remain victims of the bitter past but we should look towards the future for our country and citizens,” said Thaci. “This is a right momentum and if we miss this chance it will cost dearly to both parties. Today we have discussed on concrete issues, we have discussed modalities on how to go towards final phase of the dialogue on finding a solution between our people. We live close to each other and we know each other and we want to build normal relations,” Thaci said.
Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, says that a solution between Kosovo and Serbia should be rational, and all problems need to be solved peacefully.
“We agreed that all problems should be solved peacefully, by respecting each-other. This is very important for Kosovo Serbs, and all citizens of Serbia. We discussed on focus of the dialogue, to prove that we can discuss and work on solving of the open issues. I am not optimistic, but we have tackled many issues,” Vucic said.
He also announced addressing Serbian citizens related to solving of “Kosovo issue” in the futre, without giving further details. Serbian president also confirmed that the dialogue with Kosovo and the EU will be intensified.
