Bulgarian carriers: We are united – we are capable of closing all Brussels’ ring roads

Sofia. We are united like never before. We are supported by all parties and by the Council of Ministers. We will go to Brussels and protest. We are capable of closing all Brussels’ ring roads. This was stated by the chairman of the Association of the Bulgarian Enterprises for International Carriage and Roads, Georgi Petarneichev, during the protest of the carriers against the European Mobility Package, Focus News Agency reports.
“We are years ahead of our competitors in all other countries. They are trying to eliminate us somehow, but not in a fair way, through lower prices, but through administrative channels. This is our life. We have fought to achieve it for 30 years, we won’t give up that easily,” he said.
MEP Angel Dzhambazki also addressed the protesters, “We are against turning 150,000 people into migrants. We want these people to stay and work in Bulgaria,” said the MEP and urged Bulgarian carriers to protest in Brussels as well.
GERB MP Stanislav Ivanov assured the protesters that they are getting the support of the political parties in parliament and expressed hope that the legislative package against which they express their dissatisfaction will not be adopted the way it was proposed.

Sofia. “We discussed last night until 2.30 am the Mobility Package with Chancellor Merkel, President Macron, and Transport Minister Moscovski. We looked at it very carefully, every word, they had their arguments, we had ours,” Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on the Mobility Package before the summit between the leaders of the EU and Western Balkan countries, Focus News Agency reports. “We talked it through. There was nothing I didn’t explain. I expect we will find a solution. President Macron and Chancellor Merkel promised when they go back to instruct their experts, along with our experts, with the Commission they should review every detail once again. Their main argument is that our drivers are treated badly. They do not sleep in nice places, they cannot maintain good hygienic standards because of the specifics of their work. We discussed everything, maybe for about 3 hours,” said Boyko Borissov.
