PM Borissov: There is a zero risk to Europe from the inclusion of the Western Balkans16 May 2018 | 16:34 | FOCUS News Agency
“Today we are not talking about the left or the right, we are not talking about political parties. I am grateful to all parties, as well as to the six Western Balkan leaders for coming here. This is a success for Bulgaria, for the Bulgarian people, and I, on behalf of the people, thank them all for being here. As far as the Balkans are concerned – I have not believed that after 15 years of lull, we would be able to put the region back on the table. We have chosen a very difficult topic for Europe because for the last 20 years the region has generated many problems, death and destruction,” the prime minister said.
Borisov pointed out that he repeatedly made known to his colleagues that this is a population of 17.7 million and a GDP of about 100 billion. “Today we are talking about embracing this region that has a GDP as Slovakia’s and the population of Romania and six governments. The risk to Europe is zero. Otherwise, a conflict such as Kosovo’s, Srebrenica’s, etc., with their thousands of victims and unmarked graves – is it better for Europe?” Borissov commented.
