Minister Temenuzhka Petkova: Bulgaria needs to be able to receive natural gas from different sources, not only from Russia17 April 2018 | 13:54 | FOCUS News Agency
According to Temenuzhka Petkova, national power company NEK is expected to report some profit from its operations for the first time in many years, after a deficit of BGN 800 million in 2014. She said the recovery was due to reforms in the sector.
Asked about the sale of CEZ’s local assets, the minister said there had been no unofficial talks with the Bulgarian state for the acquisition of the assets. “The Bulgarian state has long decided to divest from the power distributors. Already in 2003, on the basis of the strategy adopted by the government and approved by the parliament, and in which a top priority was the state’s exiting that business. Arbitration disputes are currently underway with the three power distributors, and the Bulgarian state must be extremely precise and careful,” Petkova noted. She believes the state has enough tools to oversee power distribution through the energy regulator.
