Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva: The strength of Bulgarian foreign policy lies in the good knowledge of the Balkans, North Africa and the Middle East16 January 2018 | 15:27 | FOCUS News Agency
Bulgaria’s greatest strengths in terms of its presidency of the Council of the EU lie in the expertise of its ministerial teams, and Bulgarians’ confidence in the EU. “Everyone who comes to Bulgaria will feel our support for the European project, democracy, human rights, the trust in the European institutions. I hope at the end of our presidency we will have achieved progress on policies on which reaching an agreement in the EU is hard – by talking, persuading, hearing all parties,” Minister Zaharieva said.
She singled out security of European citizens, in all its aspects – their lives, health and future – as one of the biggest challenges of the Presidency and a topic high on the agenda of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
