Sofia. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva hopes that the Bulgarian Parliament will ratify the friendship treaty between Bulgaria and Macedonia in January. The two countries respect the treaty even before its ratification, which shows the positive change in their relations, she said in comments to the Bulgarian National Radio.
She reaffirmed that the Western Balkan region was a main priority for the Bulgarian presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2018, being at the same time a longer-term priority. Bulgaria is interested in the long-term stability of its neighbours, Ekaterina Zaharieva said.
She also said that the European Commission will present a strategy on the Western Balkans in February that will include all countries of the region.
