Bulgaria is a democratic country and everyone has the right to express own opinion, the Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, Lilyana Pavlova, told bTV
’s morning show. She thinks the planned protests for today and the crimes in recent days are domestic affairs and will not affect the image of Bulgaria before the guests for the presidency. The number of protests has reached 11, she noted, and joked that this is a sign that Bulgarians “want to do their best.” Pavlova thinks “it is too much” to protest now in relation to problems of domestic politics, but she again said: “Let them protest. The presidency is neither of the government nor of any of us, nor my own. It is of all Bulgarians.”
The minister also said that there are attempts to directly and indirectly discredit the government. “This is obviously a political intention of the opposition. But discrediting the government for the sole purpose of discreditation has very negative implications for the country,” she added.
