The centre of the Mediterranean cyclone remains far from Bulgaria, hence no devastating phenomena like that in neighbouring Greece are expected in the country, meteorologist Anastasia Stoycheva told FOCUS News Agency
. This is a cyclone in the Mediterranean that develops into a tropical storm with significant rainfall and strong winds, she explained. What is happening in Greece – the nearly static positioning of the cyclone for more than 96 hours and the accumulation of rainfall – is relatively rare and impressive, Anastasia Stoycheva, from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), commented. The centre remains over Southern Italy. In Bulgaria, there could be heavier rains in the southern and eastern regions.
