In the same period, the number of bed-places increased 4.8% to 320,800. The nights spent rose 4.8% to 6,009,500, with the greatest increase (6.9%) registered in 4- and 5-star accommodation sites.
Four- and 5-star hotels accounted for 61.9% of the nights spent by foreign customers and for 23.2% of the nights spent by Bulgarians. Three-star facilities represented 27% and 27.3%, respectively, of the nights spent by foreigners and Bulgarians.
Overall, the number of accommodations went up 5.5% year-on-year to 1,219,500. Accomodated Bulgarians increased 0.2% to 456,600 and spent an average of 3.3 nights, while the increase in foreign customers was 9%. From the 762,900 foreigners, 62.6% spent nights in 4- and 5-star hotels. Foreigners spent an average of 5.8 nights.
NSI also said that 62.8% of all bed-places were occupied in July, up by 2.3 percentage points compared to a year earlier. In 4- and 5-star hotels, 77.5% of the beds were occupied, followed by 61.4% in 3-star and 43.4% in 1- and 2-star accommodation establishments.
