Hristo Smolenov, security expert: Ghettos in Bulgaria may be vulnerable to terrorism17 July 2017 | 13:24 | FOCUS News Agency
He commented that ghettos like those in Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Asenovgrad are artificially maintained as centres of drug trafficking. Political correctness is one of the reasons for the lack of police operations there, he said.
According to Smolenov, Roma people become hostages of Roma bandit groups ruling over the ghettos, involved in drug trafficking, but also in assisting terrorists to hide or infiltrate in society.
After the defeat of Islamic State in the Middle East, the Balkans will face an even greater threat of radicalisation, he forecast.
