Gen. Brigo Asparuhov: High time for world to realise that fight against terrorism requires reason, funds, unity

Sofia. It is high time for the world to realise that the great danger requires reason and joint efforts by special services and especially by the governments of Russia, the US, Arab and European countries, Gen. Brigo Asparuhov, former manager of the National Intelligence Service, told FOCUS News Agency with regard to the latest attack in London.
He did not rule out a wave of anti-Muslim extremism as a reaction to Islamist terrorism.
According to him, the terrorists achieve their goal – the British society is living in fear and terror every day despite the statements “we will defeat terrorism, we will not surrender”.
He called for unity, adding that although it requires huge resources, it is worthwhile to invest in order to stop “this murderous war in peacetime”. He believes that tackling terrorism requires collaboration, a lot of information, a concentration of efforts and above all, of money. The coordination between European services is not good enough, he said, and the main problem is linked to their funding.
At the same time, terrorists have huge funding that must be stopped.
“All politicians must understand that this is the greatest danger nowadays because it hits at the heart of society(…) Everybody is killed - children, adults, innocents”, which causes terror and insecurity. There are potential threats for the entire world, no one can rely on escaping, he added.
