Minister Tsetska Tsacheva: I do not accept for the achievements in the judicial reform to be downplayed and described as “mimicry”19 May 2017 | 15:48 | FOCUS News Agency
What the Justice Minister stated was in response to the words of SCC Chairperson Lozan Panov, who said that “any mimicry of a reform leads to distrust in justice.” In relation to the meeting, Tsacheva stated: “There must be such dialogue and in this format. The problems should be put out in the open as the different authorities see them in our broad priority – continuing the judicial reform.” She stressed that she held such a conversation with the SCC chair in her office immediately after assuming the post. “Today, I appealed for more specifics to what Mr Panov believes should be worked on in depth for the judicial reform,” Tsacheca added.
The Justice Minister called for specific proposals to be made for judicial changes. “What is understood by depth of the reform? All of us must understand that, with just blanket terms and general wording, we risk remaining where we are now. We reached an agreement with Mr Panov. Exiting, I am ready for him to propose the specific texts which need to be discussed in working order and for them to become a legislative initiative,” Minister Tsacheva added.
