An important nuance in the priorities of our presidency of the EU Council is Western Balkans, as part of the topic security, migration, safety, Minister for Bulgaria’s EU Council Presidency in 2018 Lilyana Pavlova said, quoted by a reporter of FOCUS News Agency
. The second important topic and priority for Bulgaria is the future of the cohesion policy after 2020. “During our presidency we will propose an informal meeting of the ministers responsible for territorial cohesion. Together with the Committee of the Regions, where Bulgarian municipalities are represented, to make a declaration and a common European position for the future of cohesion policy,” Pavlova noted. She said cohesion is important for all 13 countries from the last EU enlargement, countries that still want to receive support for levelling out differences in development.
The repair of the National Palace of Culture, which will host events and meetings during the EU Council presidency, is at a relatively advanced stage. However, there is a delay in some activities, partly due to high security requirements.
