The President of the Supreme Court of Cassation (SCC), Lozan Panov, gave reasons for what he saw as incompleteness in the reform, including the constitutional reform, two years ago, he said after a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, quoted by FOCUS News Agency
. Panov presented part of the report of the European Commission’s experts which was in line with the opinion of the technical assistance provided to the Prosecutor’s Office on request from the government. He underlined the need for additional constitutional and legal changes. “Without a reform in the Prosecutor’s Office, there cannot be a reform in depth,” he said. There should be someone responsible for mistakes and mechanisms for taking responsibility. Any interpretations for personal conflicts between Panov and the Chief Prosecutor are unfounded, he added.
This meeting was part of a series of meetings to be held with all parties in Parliament in relation to future legal changes for the judicial reform. Panov will continue to insist on a meeting with the President as well.
