Minister Rumen Porozhanov: Agriculture is among leading sectors, gives Bulgaria good domestic product and occupation18 May 2017 | 13:56 | FOCUS News Agency
He said all good farmers who have structured good farms and improve technology are doomed to success. Even if there are any upheavals, there are always buffers both at European level and inside the companies.
He also said the EU has started a debate about future financing in agriculture. The results along with first guidelines are expected in July. Debate in Bulgaria is starting on time and will continue even after the European Commission gives the respective guidelines. The most intense periods will come after September, Porozhanov added.
There will be no reduction in subsidies for Bulgarian farmers at least until 2020, Lilyana Pavlova, Minister of Bulgaria’s 2018 Presidency of the EU Council, told journalists. Debate now is about a subsequent reduction and it is parallel to Brexit negotiations.
