Prof Boyan Durankev, economist: The minimum wage should be determined by the quality and quantity of labour for individual sectors18 May 2017 | 12:24 | FOCUS News Agency
“Let us take a look again at European practices. The first is the connection and relationship between labour productivity and wage growth. In Bulgaria, we started with a low labour productivity, but with a relatively even lower wage per unit of productivity, compared to other European countries. Currently, there is catching up to do for some distant times of about 20 years ago, when incomes really were low,” he noted. Prof Boyan Durankev also said that the government had to work towards integrating the Bulgarian economy in the EU, because this was an objective necessity.
