Pazardzhik: High levels of uranium in Velingrad water

Pazardzhik. Elevated levels of uranium have been found in Velingrad water, Dr. Fani Petrova Director of Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) – Pazardzhik said for radio FOCUS Pazardzhik.
Earlier today, Tanya Chomakova from RHI – Pazardzhik said that data received from the monitoring of Velingrad Water Supply and Sewerage company showed non-standard results of radiological indicators (natural uranium) from drinking water samples in three of the water supply areas of Velingrad region. On April 20, the director of RHI Pazardzhik took emergency measures to remove any possible risk for the population. The company was ordered to stop the supply of drinking water from the problematic water sources immediately and to provide sufficient quantities of quality drinking water.
