Paris. A handwritten note praising the Islamic State group was found near the attacker who shot dead a police officer and wounded two others on Paris's Champs Elysees, a source close to the probe said Friday, AFP reported.
In addition to the note near the body of 39-year-old Frenchman Karim Cheurfi, police found a Koran in his vehicle at the scene of Thursday's attack, the sources told AFP.

Paris. French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said nothing will stop the French presidential elections from going ahead in the wake of the Champs-Élysées attack, ITV News reported.
Mr Cazenueve said the government and security forces were fully mobilised after the fatal shooting of a policeman in Paris, with only days to go until Sunday's national poll.
Two officers injured by an armed attacker are both out of danger, French officials said.
Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said one of the injured officers was more gravely hurt than the other but both are doing better.

Paris. French police were on Friday hunting a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a policeman in Paris, French Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said, Reuters reported.
Speaking on Europe 1 radio after Thursday's shootout on the Champs Elysees shopping street, in which an assailant was also killed, Brandet said a second man had been identified by Belgian security officials and flagged to French authorities.

Paris. The gunman who killed one police officer and wounded two others in central Paris on Thursday has been identified, but his name will not be revealed until investigators determine whether he had accomplices, the Paris prosecutor said, reported Reuters.

"The identity of the attacker is known and has been checked. I will not give it because investigations with raids are ongoing," Francois Molins told reporters.

"The investigators want to be sure whether he had or did not have accomplices."

Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said the wounded police officers' lives were no longer in danger.

Paris. One police officer was killed and another wounded Thursday in a shooting on Paris's Champs Elysees, police said just days ahead of France's presidential election, reported AFP.

France's interior ministry said the attacker was killed in the incident on the world famous boulevard that is popular with tourists.
